【商品説明】
◆建前の際、ほぞ穴の微調整や仕口の修正を行うため、大工は必要最小限の道具だけを携えて梁の上へ上がります。そんな現場で「一本だけ持っていく鑿」として、田齋明夫氏が生み出した特別な一本が、この脇差し鑿です。
◆その名は、「武士が己の魂ともいえる刀を常に帯刀していた」という日本古来の精神になぞらえ、「いつでも傍らに置き、末永く使ってほしい」という田齋氏の想いを込めて脇差し鑿と命名されました。一本の鑿に、職人の誇りと道具への敬意が宿る逸品です。

【鍛冶屋経歴】
■高級鑿の名工・田齋明夫氏（たさいあきお）
■昭和14年10月25日生まれ
■新潟県三条市にて活動
■三条鑿鍛冶・佐藤栄登志（栄とし）氏に弟子入り。
■大工が満足できる鑿を作るため、実際の現場を訪ね、道具がどのような場所でどのように使われているのかを確認し、職人の要望を聞きながら製品作りに励みました。その姿勢と確かな技術により、多くの大工から支持を得ました。
■槍鉋の製作にも20年以上取り組み、長年の研究から生み出された品は、宮大工からも高く評価されました。
■晩年は長男の道生（みちお）氏が製作の中心を担い、明夫氏は主に脇差し鑿の製作に取り組みました。

【PRODUCT DETAILS】
◆During traditional timber-frame construction, carpenters climb onto the beams carrying only the essential tools required to make fine adjustments to mortises and correct joints. Akio Tasai created this special Wakizashi chisel as the single chisel a carpenter could rely on in such situations.
◆The name was inspired by the traditional Japanese spirit of the samurai, who always carried a sword regarded as an extension of his soul. Tasai named it the Wakizashi chisel with the hope that its owner would always keep it close at hand and use it for many years. It is an exceptional tool embodying the craftsman’s pride and deep respect for his craft.

【BLACKSMITH’S CAREER】
■Akio Tasai was a master blacksmith renowned for producing premium Japanese chisels.
■Born on October 25, 1939.
■Lived and worked in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture.
■He apprenticed under Sanjo chisel blacksmith Eitoshi Sato.
■With the goal of creating chisels that would fully satisfy professional carpenters, he visited construction sites to observe how the tools were used and listened carefully to the needs of the craftspeople. His dedication and outstanding skill earned the strong support of many carpenters.
■He devoted more than 20 years to the production and development of traditional Yari-Kanna spear planes. The results of his extensive research became highly regarded by temple and shrine carpenters.
■In his later years, his eldest son, Michio Tasai, assumed the leading role in production, while Akio Tasai focused primarily on crafting Wakizashi chisels.
