【商品説明】
・本品は以前、似鳥透氏の知人より鉋台用スクレーパーの製作依頼を受け、製作された商品です。
・クジラの尾をイメージして製作されたことから、「クジラ（鯨）」と名付けられました。
・鉋台を削る際の使いやすさを考慮し、曲線部分の形状にこだわることで、手への負担を軽減できるよう工夫されています。
・刃幅は約93mmあり、さまざまなサイズの鉋台に使用しやすい寸法となっております。

【鍛冶屋経歴】
■1989年―北海道に生まれ、道南の知内町で15歳まで過ごす。
■2005年―函館高専、室蘭工業大学、同大学院で機械・航空系を学ぶ。
■2014年―精密機器メーカーに約3年半勤務。
■2018年―青年海外協力隊としてタンザニアで2年間活動。
■2020年―水野鉋製作所に弟子入り。
■2025年―水野鉋製作所の設備を借りながら独立。

【職人プロフィール】
・大学院卒業後は精密機器メーカーに勤務していましたが、品質保証課への配属となり、ものづくりの喜びを実感できず、思い悩む日々を過ごしていました。
・その後、青年海外協力隊としてタンザニアで機械工学を教えた経験を通じて、改めて「自分の手でものを作る仕事に就きたい」という思いが強くなりました。
・帰国後、SNSで偶然目にした「越後与板打刃物の弟子募集」の広告をきっかけに、水野鉋製作所へ弟子入りしました。
・5年間にわたり、土曜日や祝日も工場に出て修業を重ね、鉋や鑿に加えて、スクレーパーや鉞などの道具を製作する技術も身につけました。
・2025年、「水鳥刃物」として独立。現在も、使いやすく美しい大工道具づくりに日々励んでいます。
・「水鳥刃物」の名は、師匠の名字である「水野」の「水」と、自身の名字である「似鳥」の「鳥」に由来します。

【PRODUCT DETAILS】
・This scraper was originally created after an acquaintance of Toru Nitadori commissioned him to make a specialized scraper for preparing Japanese wooden plane bodies.
・It was designed to resemble the tail of a whale and was therefore named “Kujira,” the Japanese word for whale.
・The curved section has been carefully shaped for ease of use when scraping and adjusting a Japanese plane body, with consideration given to reducing strain on the user's hands.
・Its wide 93mm blade makes it suitable for working on Japanese plane bodies of various sizes.

【BLACKSMITH'S CAREER】
■1989 ― Born in Hokkaido and raised in Shiriuchi, southern Hokkaido, until the age of 15.
■2005 ― Studied mechanical and aerospace engineering at Hakodate National College of Technology, Muroran Institute of Technology, and its graduate school.
■2014 ― Worked for a precision-equipment manufacturer for approximately three and a half years.
■2018 ― Spent two years in Tanzania as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer.
■2020 ― Began an apprenticeship at Mizuno Kanna Seisakusho.
■2025 ― Became an independent craftsman while continuing to use the facilities of Mizuno Kanna Seisakusho.

【CRAFTSMAN PROFILE】
・After completing graduate school, Nitadori worked for a precision-equipment manufacturer. However, after being assigned to the quality-assurance department, he felt unable to experience the satisfaction of making things with his own hands.
・He later spent two years teaching mechanical engineering in Tanzania as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer. This experience strengthened his desire to pursue a career in which he could create products by hand.
・After returning to Japan, he happened to see a social-media advertisement seeking an apprentice in the Echigo-Yoita hand-forged blade tradition. This led him to begin his apprenticeship at Mizuno Kanna Seisakusho.
・During five years of training, he worked at the forge even on Saturdays and public holidays. Through this intensive apprenticeship, he acquired the skills required to make Japanese planes and chisels, as well as scrapers and traditional Japanese axes.
・In 2025, he established himself independently under the name “Mizutori Hamono.” He continues to devote himself to creating beautiful and practical woodworking tools.
・The name “Mizutori Hamono” combines the “Mizu” from his master's surname, Mizuno, with the “Tori” from his own surname, Nitadori.
