【製品詳細】
・正行作の定番商品である、四角型の玄能です。
・焼入れ肌を活かした、伝統的な黒仕上げが施されています。
・「ハチマキなし」の玄能です。ハチマキとは、打面側面に施される磨き部分を指します。本品はこの磨きを入れず、焼入れ肌の黒仕上げをそのまま活かした仕様です。

【職人経歴】
■古式鍛錬所の名工・馬場正行氏。昭和の名工・長谷川幸三郎氏のもとで修業し、この道50年。
■「道心斎正行（どうしんさいまさつら）」銘で作られる玄翁は、「世界の職人が憧れる官能的玄翁」と評されています。（燕三条 工場の祭典より）
■純度の低い鉄も、叩いて鍛え上げることで味わいが生まれると語り、工場内には戦艦陸奥の鎖、約100年前の鉄橋材、約300年前の和釘などが置かれています。
■胴の両端に鋼を鍛接し、叩きながら丸め込むことで成形されています。
■「一万個作ってもサイズはすべて同じ」と、職人として当然のことのように語ります。「玄翁は女性だ」「金儲けの方法はいくらでもある」としながらも、「生き方としてこの道を選んだ」という名工は、今も自らを鍛え続けています。

【PRODUCT DETAILS】
・This square Genno hammer head is one of Masatsura's classic and most established designs.
・It has a traditional black finish that preserves the appearance of the heat-treated surface.
・This model is made without a “Hachimaki.” Hachimaki refers to the polished band normally applied around the sides of the striking faces. By omitting this polished band, the original black heat-treated surface is preserved throughout the hammer head.

【CRAFTSMAN PROFILE】
■Masayuki Baba is a master blacksmith of Koshiki Tanrensho with approximately 50 years of experience. He trained under Kozaburo Hasegawa, a renowned master craftsman of the Showa era.
■His Genno hammers, bearing the smith name “Doshinsai Masatsura,” have been described as “sensuous Genno hammers admired by craftspeople around the world” by the Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Festival.
■Baba believes that even iron of lower purity develops unique character when repeatedly forged and refined. His workshop contains historic materials such as anchor chain from the Japanese battleship Mutsu, iron from a century-old bridge, and Japanese nails dating back approximately 300 years.
■Steel is forge-welded to both ends of the central body, then hammered and shaped into the finished form.
■Baba states that “even after making ten thousand pieces, every one should be the same size,” regarding such precision as a natural responsibility of a craftsman. Describing a Genno as feminine in character, he says that although “there are countless ways to make money,” he chose this path as a way of life and continues to refine both his craft and himself.
